What is Faith?

Faith is a potent spiritual force which grasps the unrealities and brings them into the realm of reality. The Bible says,

“Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;” 1Corinthians 3:21, 22

All of God’s blessings are spiritual. They (God’s blessings) dwell in the spirit realm. They cannot be accessed with our physical strategies and theories. It is faith which draws these spiritual blessings from the spiritual realm into this physical realm of life (Galatians 3:14).

Faith is a product of the spirit. It is not born of sense knowledge or the flesh. In other words, it has nothing to do with the intellectual realm or our five physical senses. It (Faith) comes from within (the spirit of the believer) therefore any faith outside the spirit of man cannot produce the results of God. It is only the spirit of man that can feed on the Word of God and draw out nutrients for building up faith into ones system (spirit). The Word of God was made for our spirit man and not for the flesh. This is why God’s Word is foolishness unto those that perish because it dwells in their fleshly realm. The Bible says,

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned 1 Corinthians 2:14.

You cannot understand the Word with your mind or physical senses, it is spiritually discerned. The mind only understands the teachings and perceptions of the five physical senses. The five physical senses are responsible for educating the mind. Without these senses, the brain is unfruitful and in terrible danger of perishing. The five senses – seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling and tasting – are all physical doors that lead to the brain.

Before the fall, man had perfect fellowship with God. He lived in the realm of the spirit (His spirit ruled him, and his senses were subject to his spirit), but when he sinned and became a partaker of Satan’s nature; his spirit became subordinated to his senses. The spirit understands the Word and is to rule the outer man (Proverbs 20:27). It (spirit) believes in the Word, regardless of physical seeing, hearing and feeling. I often say, what the eye of your spirit man sees is more real than what your two physical eyes see. True reality dwells in our spirit because God is only revealed to man through His spirit. As a result, man must learn to live in his spirit if he wants to go far in his relationship and fellowship with God (Galatians 5:25).

Faith in God is not a religion or religious practice. Faith in God is a response to God’s Word regardless of physical/natural happenings. God works through His Word and not a set of religious rules. He will never do anything outside His Word. When God desired to create a universe, He brought it into being by His Word (Hebrews 11:3, John 1:1-12). The New Creation in Christ was also brought by His word. The Bible says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” 1 Peter 1:23 the Word ‘seed’ in the scripture is translated from the Greek word ‘spora’. That’s where the English word ‘sperm’ came from. When you are born again, you’re born of God’s sperm – His Word.

Jesus did not bring religion as many claim. There is no life in religion. One may ask, didn’t Jesus birth the Christian religion? My answer is a BIG NO. Christianity is bigger than religion. It is God impacting His nature which is Zoe (Eternal life) into our spirit man. Jesus brought life as well as introduces God as a Father unto humanity (No man during that era, knew God as a Father. It was blasphemy to call God as a Father during those days). The Bible says,

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” 1 John 5:11

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” John 10:10.

This is a beautiful picture of what Christianity is all about. Jesus didn’t say I have come “that they might have religion”, but rather “that they might have life”. Zoe made it possible for man to function in real faith (God kind of Faith). God is only pleased with us when we dwell and function in His word which is the mother of faith (Romans 10:17). The Bible says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” Hebrews 11:6. We can’t please God when we walk in our religious ideas, doctrines and traditions. They have nothing in them that our spirit man can feed on to glorify Papa God. God is looking for those who will make His Word the standard for living (Luke 11:28, Luke 8:21, Proverbs 4: 20-23).
